Meet Ty and David, co-founders of Alpha Real Estate. Their vast background in real estate, development, and landscaping has made them Denver’s biggest go-to agents.
Meet the Denver-local team behind Alpha Real Estate: Ty Zakovich and David Cohen
The team behind Alpha has been here for more than twenty years, creating hope, shaping communities, and (literally) building dreams for Denverites.
On top of their service as local real estate agents and entrepreneurs, your neighbors Ty Zakovich and David Cohen are probably hanging around right where you are– Cherry Creek, Cherry Hills Village, and Columbine Valley– enjoying time with family while helping locals find dream Denver homes.
Between the two of them, Ty and David have vast experience working in real estate, construction, landscaping, and even immersing themselves in local healing centers and clinics. Get ready on Alpha’s site to see everything from real estate stats, questions, answers, local guides, and more.
Here at Alpha, real estate is bigger than just finding a house. It’s finding your space, finding your community, and finding your groove. It’s about helping families realize what’s most important in their lives and using the power of connection to make their dreams a reality.
But first, why don’t you meet the founders?
Meet Ty Zakovich–
the founder of Alpha. After spending years growing up in a real estate family focused on brokerage and development, he earned his real estate license at 18– ready to hit the ground running.
From the start of his journey as a young agent, he’d witnessed one of the worst real estate crashes ever– The Great Recession of 2009 – both from the eyes of a real estate agent and a developer. Leaving college bright-eyed and bushy-tailed while the world around him was left with no hope, he realized that he had two innate beliefs that would help push him forward:
- In real estate, there’s an opportunity for anything. Though he was licensed and living in California at the time, he’d lived his whole life in Denver, and knew the area like the back of his hand. If nobody else would be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel for Denver homes, he would.
- Knowing both real estate and development was a superpower. While the people around him saw foreclosures as a tragedy, he saw them as opportunities to better the community.
When he came back to Denver, Ty started hand-selecting foreclosures around the area and reviving them, turning one person’s loss into another person’s dream. Fast forward to today, and he’s spent 20 years as a real estate broker, as well as an investor, developer, and consultant. From helping buyers find alternative financing for second and third-homes and investment properties to negotiating multi-million dollar luxury deals to consulting with first-time homebuyers, Ty’s all-encompassing approach to real estate has helped hundreds of homebuyers actualize their dreams and find a Denver home they love.
Meet David Cohen–
Ty’s partner-in-crime, co-Colorado native real estate agent, developer, and collegiate athlete. David’s passion for enhancing the beauty of Denver’s community ignites every transaction he handles. He doesn’t simply show clients listings but coaches them through their entire home-buying journey, and his diverse background in construction and landscaping complements Ty’s deep experience with real estate and development.
Why Alpha?
Real estate needs a personalized touch.
And when your business partner is practically family, your clients become family, too.
Ty and David’s combined background in brokerage, development, and landscaping make them the perfect team; both Colorado natives, Denver homeowners, proud husbands, and both fathers of three.
The home-buying process isn’t always personal.
In fact, the whole process scares a lot of people.
Applying for a loan, allocating funds, and deciding the next spot to call home.
Sending applications and receiving black-and-white answers like “approved” or “not approved” makes many homebuyers wary of the process of owning. But with agents who are your coach, no answer is black and white, and everything is an opportunity.
So, what is Denver, Colorado like for families?
Parks, zoos, arts, and sports— Denver’s beautiful topography and proximity to parks, mountains, and water makes for a beautiful space to raise a family. If you’re exploring the area, here’s are Ty and David’s top picks around the area:

Why? Family-focused activities that promote quality time give great life-learning lessons, and a taste of real-world competition!
David’s favorite…
Coffee shop/cafe: black coffee from anywhere!
Why: It’s less about liking coffee and more about the company and getting the right amount of caffeine. ☕️
Restaurant: Angelo’s Taverna (Littleton)
Why: Once we moved back to Littleton, our first mission was to find a great restaurant. This was an easy fit.
Weekend activities with the family: If we aren’t at a team sporting event, we are generally still playing something at a park, golf course, or rec center.
Why? Getting the kids outside and/or the energy out keeps the sanity for everyone!
Answering your common questions about the Denver area (from Denver born-and-raised!)
Some things to know about what the Denver area is going to be like:
1. Is it a good time to buy in Denver?
It’s a good time to buy in Denver if you find a house that’s right for you. Inventory is still very tight, the market is still competitive depending on the property and location, and as interest rates continue to stabilize, we anticipate much more buying competition in the upcoming months.
2. Is Denver housing overpriced?
“Overpriced” isn’t the best term for our market here, but it’s certainly in high demand, which is driving the prices up. We’re seeing a very steady flow of people moving into the state of Colorado as working from home is becoming more of a norm. So yes, while this is in fact driving the prices up, there shouldn’t be a fear that the market will decline.
3. Is it better to rent or buy in Colorado?
It all depends on your situation. There can always be strategic times to rent and buy, and your entire financial and life plan needs to be accounted for before making that decision for yourself.
